When the internet drops, your POS, card readers, and online orders are all affected. Try this before anything else.
1. Reboot the modem and router
- Find your modem (from Spectrum, Cox, etc.) and your router/firewall.
- Unplug power from both, wait 30 seconds, and plug the modem in first.
- Once the modem's lights stabilize (1–2 minutes), plug the router back in.
2. If you have a cellular backup router
Some locations have a small black router with antennas as cellular backup. If primary internet is down, reboot this unit too — it should take over automatically.
3. Check individual devices
- If only ONE device is offline (a single iPad, printer, or card reader), reboot that device rather than the network.
- Mobile card readers charge via cable — make sure they're charging and reboot them (hold the power button on the side).
4. Enable offline payments if needed
If the internet will be down a while, ask us about enabling offline payments so you can keep taking cards. We'll walk you through it.
Still down?
Contact support — we monitor your network equipment and can often see whether the outage is your ISP, your firewall, or a specific access point, and we'll open the ISP ticket for you.
